Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days DLC comes early and for free due to faulty error message
Those who’ve already gotten their copies of Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days got a little worked up over a DLC-related error message that appeared in the game when saving or loading. Fear not, level-grinders! NIS America sent word that the error message will not harm your gameplay or any DLC you may download in the future. To prove that and to appease those who’ve been itching to hit Level 1000 already, they’re handing out the game’s first DLC free of charge.
Those who’ve already gotten their copies of Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days got a little worked up over a DLC-related error message that appeared in the game when saving or loading. Fear not, level-grinders! NIS America sent word that the error message will not harm your gameplay or any DLC you may download in the future. To prove that and to appease those who’ve been itching to hit Level 1000 already, they’re handing out the game’s first DLC free of charge.
The error message reads:
DL cannot be utilized
DC content will stop playing.
To play DL content,
DL content must be installed
onto Memory Stick
at the time of booting.
If you save now,
your save data will be saved
in the state in which you
cannot use the DLC.
When you see an error message like that, of course you’re gonna get a little freaked out. Luckily, NIS America was quick to address the issue.
According to NIS America’s press release:
We have researched the problem and have located its source. This message is supposed to appear when you have saved data with Downloadable Content (characters, etc.) but your Memory Stick™ does not have the corresponding DLC package(s) installed. The message will appear regardless of whether or not the current saved data contains DLC. Our investigation has revealed that this message will not harm your game play experience with Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days or any future Downloadable Content offerings.
We have also discovered that this message will turn off after installing any DLC package and re-saving your data. Because this message has caused our fans distress and confusion, we have decided to release our first Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days Downloadable Content free of charge. The DLC content will include the lovely Disgaea 3 princess-to-the-rescue character, Sapphire, and is scheduled for availability on November 25th, 2009. Until then, you will not be able to turn the message off.
Well wasn’t that nice of them? Benign error message, but we get free DLC anyway. Cool beans. So come November 25th, you can get the DLC and be rid of that error message forever.
