September was a big month for Microsoft, when the Xbox 360 and Halo 3 topped hardware and software sales, but analyst Jesse Divinch of simExchange predicts that the Wii will once again take top spot for October’s results, concurring with Pachter’s own forecasts.

Divinch is more generous than Pachter with his predictions for hardware sales (although the rankings of the consoles remain the same). He predicts the Wii to have sold 467,000 (Pachter gave it 450,000), the Xbox 360 to have sold 412,000 (Pachter: 325,000), and the PlayStation 3 to have sold 136,000 units (Pachter: 125,000).

Divinch also gives a more generous number for total software sales this month, giving US$ 565 million (Pachter gave US$ 555 million). By these numbers Divinch expects Sony will have “more PS3 price cuts, stronger exclusive titles, and a deeper market penetration of Blu-Ray movies.”

Divinch also believes that Halo 3, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Half-Life 2: Orange Box, Guitar Hero III, and Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction will be the leading software games for October.
