DIY: Wireless arcade controller for the Xbox 360
Breaking into the 360 Do-It-Yourself (DIY) scene is this mix of the old an new: a wireless arcade-style joystick controller for the Microsoft Xbox 360 console. Created by DH020, this controller uses a heavily modified Xbox 360 wireless controller as a base, with a Charge and Play kit as a power source.
The external components consist of a joystick and buttons from the Sanwa Denshi company in Japan – they’re pretty well known among button-smashers fighting game fans for making sturdy arcade game machine parts. The whole kit is encased in a plexiglas top and with custom felt material base, and topped out with a white paint finish. The kit is further finished off with an image of Street Fighter‘s Ryu on the top, which adds to the kit’s nostalgic feel.
Summing it up, the controller looks clean-cut and sturdy, with the wireless capability ensuring that people won’t have to worry about tripping over cables as guys try this controller out in their next bout of Dead or Alive 4, or Virtua Fighter 5 (when it launches, we mean). There’s also the matter of the Charge and Play kit, which makes recharging a matter of hooking this controller up to your closest USB port.
Don’t take our word for it, though – the creator also posted a YouTube video demonstrating what this kit can do. Enjoy your viewing.
