DPGPlay v2.4: view DPG on your PC
Let’s assume you’ve mastered the finer points of DS homebrew. You understand why Infantile Paralysiser calls himself such, and you know how to use Moonshell.
Now, let’s assume you’ve caught the flu or you feel absolutely lazy and want to watch the stockpiled Nintendo DS MPEG (DPG) files you have through your DS via the Moonshell app. However, you’re so unbearably lazy that you don’t want the hassle of moving them from computer to DS, or manually putting the files back into a form that your PC can read. What do you do?
You make workarounds, that’s what you do! Firon‘s been working hard on making a player that reads DPG files for your computer, and his latest version is up for people to try out. Based on the earlier work of Chuckstudios, DPGPlay v2.4 lets you watch DPGs on your comp.
All you need to do is look for the .dpg file you already have on your computer and play it right on your PC with the accompanying video player. You can say it works both ways, letting you watch videos you’ve picked up from a game (if you know how to grab them, of course) on your PC, or letting you keep one format for the vids you like seeing on your DS and your PC. Definitely a space saver.
In any case, you can simply unzip the folder and follow the readme for instructions on using the application. It’s quite user-friendly, even if the readme is a bit short on content. Of course, if you already know how to use Moonshell, then knowing how to get DPGs and use an app like this should be a simple process for you, right? Just remember: this is an app for your PC to play DS-MPEG files, alright? Enjoy!
