Created for the DS, the game is set around a tournament referred to as the Joker GP. Speculations have been rich among fans that Dhoulmagus of Dragon Quest VIII could be central to the game. Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker will also feature Wi-Fi play through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service.

Based on the scan, the game will be released in Japan on December 28 for 5040 Yen (about $43).
