Druids and consumables – the story rages on
The Druids are the mighty morphin power – err… tanks in the World of Warcraft. They are very viable tanks – especially in Dire Bear Form. The problem was, last November, Druids were able to use consumables and had weapon procs while in different forms.
It turned out that it was a bug, but the devs seemed to like the idea so it was put “under consideration” (which potions and items can be used). Now, this might have been gathering dust in Blizzard‘s dev offices (too bad WoW players rarely ever forgets). Sheanos over at the World of Warcraft Europe forums decided to bring the issue up again. He said that he decided to do so since consumable use in general is getting a massive overhaul in the next patch and this might be the perfect time to bring the matter up.
Blizzard poster Vaneras answered the query:
Unfortunately we do not yet have much new information available regarding this topic. The developers are still evaluating which pots and procs should be usable in forms, but it is not an easy evaluation process because for the most part Druids currently appear to be performing where the developers want them to.
Because the Druids appears to be performing the way the developers want, then they have to be very considerate and cautious in the evaluation process in order to avoid potential balance issues, which means that they also have to consider whether or not pots/procs in forms is even necessary anymore.
I know that this might sound like bad news to some of you, but please remember that the evaluation process has not yet finished so it is still too early to proclaim doom and gloom.
Hmm, so Druids are working as intended? A whole pack of bears might disagree. Vaneras did mention something about not losing hope. We’ll be sure to get you the next part in this soap opera. Stay tuned.
