Drysc gets some appreciation from the WoW community

Drysc gets some loving from the WoW community - Image 1Community managers in World of Warcraft have a tough job. They deliver news, both good and bad to the community. Oftentimes, they have been the target of much anger for their actions, when they’re just doing their job.

Of course, the community is not always like that and after the CMs showed up at Blizzcon 2007, quite a few players have changed their minds about them. A lot of loving has been directed to Blizzard Community Manager Drysc, who some considered as very curt.

He handled all the positive attention pretty well and addressed those who have said that they like him,

Glad to hear it! I like to think I’m a nice guy, it seems most people think I’m a decent chap, but my sense of humor can be off putting at first for some. It sometimes (most of the time?) doesn’t translate well through text, so I try to keep it at a minimum.

In general I’m pretty nice though, except in the morning. Turn that sarcasm and dry sense of humor into a demonic hatred for all life and you have me on most mornings. I think it’s likely a sign of what’s to come as I age, and that hatred begins to creep further and further into my days… until it consumes me. Now get off my lawn!

The gamers on the forums were even spreading around an ASCII picture of Drysc (shown at the upper right), which we have to admit captures his likeness pretty well. Hopefully, this translates into a better future relationship between WoW CMs and players.
