DS and PSP War in UK Heating Up

UK Flag

The United Kingdom has been known as “Sonyland” for a long time now. They love Sony over there! The dominance is frightening! However, the PSP vs. DS war has shown that Sony isn’t as invincible as they seem. So far, the DS still holds the lead it gained by the PSP launch delays. However, the PSP was slightly ahead in units sold in 2006. This gave PSP the YTD (Year to Date) win while the DS kept it’s LTD win (Life to Date). Now, reports show that the DS is yet again ahead in YTD due to the DS Lite. All this really shows is that, unlike Japan, a clear winner has not emerged in the United Kingdom. The back-and-forth struggle will likely continue for a while. The product will be great games as both companies try and outdo each other! We’ll see if anything changes when Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core and Pokemon Diamond/Pearl come out! Sony will have to find more games to combat the other Nintendo megahits though. The top PSP game this last week was Tomb Raider: Legend which was outsold by New Super Mario Bros. at a 5:1 ratio!
