DSLearn v0.2

DSLearnHeads-up! Zarxrax just updated his DS homebrew app, DSLearn. Basically, it’s a sort of a flash card made for the DS. On one side, there’s a word in Japanese. Just like flash cards made for kids, you can flip it over to check out the answer. The touch pad’s just like a drawing pad where you can scribble the Kana (Japanese text) equivalent of the Japanese word written in good old English alphabet.

This one’s a pretty useful tool, if you ask me. For one, it can help budding Japanese students get acquainted with Kana. Moreover, it can also help out anime fans like me to recognize the random Japanese characters that pop out oh so often in Japanese cartoons. Neat, huh?

Anyway as I said earlier, Zarxrax just updated his DS masterpiece. Here are his readme notes and his changelog:

  • Before using, you must run PAFS.bat to copy the text data into the rom.
  • The text data is stored in the /files/ folder.
  • Every line of the file will be considered a separate card
  • front and back of the card are separated by ‘,,’

Changes:

  • Fixed lots of bugs
  • Larger, easier to read font
  • Cards can now contain much more text
  • Supports more than one text file at a time (this is not very useful yet)
  • Keeps track of how many cards you have answered correctly
