DSweb build 0.03a
There sure was a lot of excitement stirred when news started flying that the DS will be having an Opera-based DS browser. When it was released in Japan, it was received with mixed reactions. The main contention of those who weren’t exactly thrilled at the idea of having a web browser on their DS was not out of disliking the idea per se, but more of being dismayed at having a price tagged to the browser when other handhelds could in fact get it for free.
And so, developers saw a new opportunity to make better the plight of DS fans by having the same perks minus the hefty cost. Just earlier, we posted an article on a probable NDS browser still pretty much on the blueprint stage. But as luck would have it, we actually already have a DS web build ready for download, thanks to dawn2k.
From the looks of it, it appears as if dawn2k’s build is all set. However, he still would like to know if you guys encounter some other bugs not mentioned in the list, if ever you do download the application, and report it to [email protected].
So far, here are the known bugs:
- checkboxes do not work
- address on top screen is not reset if you press the enter button
- strlen is not reset too
The following, meanwhile, are not working yet:
- wifi
- html/php/java/shtml
- sound (next release)
- add/view favorites
- view help
The other news is that the following are working (or at least it should be):
- disabling touchscreen mousepointer
- stylus button next to the home-button now does what it should do:
- open a new background and adding a sprite on the topscreen which is movable with the stylus on the touchscreen. This is needed to open hyperlinks later
- backlight fixed- thx Mollusk
So give it a shot and see if it suits your needs. Simply copy the DSweb.nds or the DSweb.sc.nds (supercard users) file to your flashcard from the download below and run it. Enjoy!
