Now that E3’s getting all gussied up for next year’s event with bigger booths and a larger guest list for the party, what’s going to happen to the E for All Expo? Let’s just say it’s not looking good.
The last E for All Expo wasn’t what you’d call a smashing success, with only 15,000 attendees. It probably didn’t help that it was held on the same weekend that PAX was on. It’s also to be noted that IDG World Expo, the organization behind E for All, will also be handling E3 2009, so they may have their hands full.
Someone recently got IDG’s CEO Mary Dolaher on the line to ask her what the deal is, but it sounds like she heard a different question:
We want to thank all of our E for All partners for their support, and we encourage E for All exhibitors to participate in the E3 new event, which we believe will meet their needs as well as those of the industry at large.
IDG World Expo is very pleased to be partnering with the ESA on E3 and continuing to play a central role in that important industry event. We look forward to furthering our contribution to the success of the video game community.
I take it she meant “I don’t want to talk about it.” So will we see an E for All Expo next year? I wouldn’t count on it.
