Europe: SCEE confirms 80GB PlayStation 3 and Platinum games line - Image 1Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) president David Reeves has recently confirmed that Europe will be receiving a new 80GB PlayStation 3, much like North America. Speaking at E3, Reeves further indicated that the new SKU is expected to arrive on August 27, and will sell for Â£ 299 (€ 399, US$ 599).

He further noted that the 80GB model is expected to replace the 40GB PS3, which is expected to run out of stock by the time the new model rolls out on August 27. SCEE has no plans to reduce the 40GB model’s price before its end run. Reeves also stated that SCEE was also preparing new bundles of the PSP and PlayStation 2 systems, though the bundle’s contents will vary depending on their region.

In related news, Reeves also announced that they will be launching the PS3’s Platinum range of games this August 1, with each title to be available for just £ 19.99 (€ 29.99, US$ 48). Titles currently confirmed are Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed .

A Eurogamer report further indicates that Resistance: Fall of Man, Heavenly Sword, MotorStorm, and Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction are also included in the list, with WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2008 expected to arrive by September. The report further noted that another ten titles from third-party developers are expected to launch between September until the end of November.
