They may both be stealth-heavy games, but one of the big differences between Ubisoft‘s Tom Clancy‘s Splinter Cell: Conviction and Konami‘s Metal Gear Solid 4 lies in the cutscenes, with the former having none at all.

According to one of the game’s devs, this was a conscious decision made to improve the gamer’s immersion in the story. Here’s what he said to VG247:

Our objective is to keep the player involved in the story at all time. I mean, I love Metal Gear Solid. But we thought this was a more immersive way to do things. Instead of, like, getting to that thing where you put the controller down for the next 45 minutes and wait for it to be over, weÂ’re just gonna keep you in there the whole time.

Splinter Cell: Conviction (PC, Xbox 360) is tracking an October 2009 release, almost two years off from its original scheduled release date.
