E3: Mark Rein talks Unreal Tournament 3
The folks over at GameSpot managed to have a chat with Mark Rein and they squeezed out some juicy info from Epic Games‘ big man himself. In this video, Rein talks Unreal Tournament 3 exclusivity, downloadable content, and more.
As we all know, the game will be a timed exclusive hitting the PS3 this November. According to Rein, it will also come to the PC on the same month.
After Gears of War put everyone in awe with sheer graphics, Mark Rein was very happy to report that UT3 will surpass the game that came a year before it. The Epic guys are going to utilize the full power of the PS3, along with some help from SIXAXIS to deliver the best UT3 experience yet. From Rein himself, SIXAXIS will be used in driving hoverboards and it will be a blast.
PS3 and PC owners going head to head is technically feasible, but Rein highly doubts that it’s necessary. Being a company known to be strongly supportive of their fans, Epic doesn’t see users wanting such feature. Asked if we’ll see interconsole carnage between the PS3 and Xbox 360, Rein said “We’ll have to wait and see.”
Unreal Tournament was always about crazy mods, and this installment is no different. “PlayStation 3 is the only home console that’s gonna let us bring mods,” said Rein. Free downloadable content will be available on both the PS3 and the PC, but Epic is also looking at charging players for some stuff. No need to worry though, this could only mean something like user-created mods going on sale.
