E3: three new Silent Hill: Origins gameplay videos

Three new videos of the highly-anticipated chunk of damnation that you’ll be able to cart around wherever you go on your PSP. Yup, we’re talkinga bout Konami‘s Silent Hill: Origins. Let’s take a look at what’s waiting for us in the infamous town with the infamous dark side. Be warned – while these videos don’t actually display the gorier side of the game, they’re still scary – scary enough to make yours truly almost jump out of his seat!

The first video shows our stalwart protagonist Travis solving a puzzle involving plastic body parts, getting two glass eyes for his efforts. It also shows the jarring transition (in a good way) of normal, you’re-just-alone Silent Hill to bleeding, rusty, you’re-gonna-get-mauled Silent Hill. It was here that yours truly was nearly frightened out of his wits, especially when Travis succumbed to the Lying Figure’s acid vomit attack. Ouch.

The second video shows Travis in a similar situation, this time with the cute faceless nurse with a scalpel. Thanks to a few swings of a heavy mallet, he survives to see Alessa play some mind games on him. The third shows how Travis breaks one of the cardinal rules in Silent Hill (that all other SH protagonists broke too) – and that’s to unwittingly go into the town’s hospital. They never learn!

Good things about these videos? We see that there are virtually no loading times going in and out of rooms, the game’s graphics look great if not at par with the previous Silent Hill games, and the animations are scarily convincing. Definitely one of the must-have titles for the PSP. Updates as we get them, in the meantime enjoy the videos!
