E3 Update: Nintendo unveils Wii Fit and Wii Balancing Board
Yet another Nintendo update from its E3 2007 Media Briefing, and it’s the game that Miyamoto himself announced – Wii Fit, the game for the Nintendo Wii that’s all about giving gamers (and non-gamers) off the couch and sweating it out, all in the name of health. Read on to find out more.
An hour or so into the Media Briefing, Shigeru Miyamoto came out and talked about Wii Fit – a game that’s bundled with a scale-like device that seems to operate like a highly-sensitive dance pad. With the device (officially named the Wii Balance Board) tracking your movement and weight, the game puts you through a regimen of 40 physical activities designed to work your body out, such as Yoga, stretching, soccer, and even dancing.
There’s also a feature in the game that checks out your overall performance, such as how fast you’re getting fit, what your Body Mass Index is – the things you’d want to keep track of.
One thing to note about the Wii Balance Board: It’s wireless, therefore it can be placed ANYWHERE in the room. While it’s certainly useful for Wii Fit, we can’t help but imagine the ways the Wii Balance Board will be utilized in other games. Definitely something to watch out for.
Certainly a very big announcement from Nintendo! We can only wonder what they’ll come up with next. Updates as we get them!
