E3: WWE Smackdown Versus Raw 2008 trailer video

Burning tables, battered bodies and broken bones in this video update of WWE Smackdown Versus Raw 2008 (PS3, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Wii). We get you the skinny on what’s new with the best-looking (as well as being the most painful-looking) wrestling title to date.

In this trailer video, we see some of the fighting styles we’ll be acquainting ourselves with in the game – namely Powerhouse, High Flyer, Fighting Dirty, Showman and Hardcore Fighting. One thing we noticed immediately is that the Hardcore Fighting style has considerably been made – well, more hardcore, in terms of using chairs, sledgehammers and other weapons in conjunction with wrestling moves.

We also see the Sandman setting fire to a table – reminiscent of the Dudleys setting fire to one before 3D-ing Tommy Dreamer through it in ECW’s One Night Stand. If we’re able to do that in the game itself, then THQ‘s WWE Smackdown Versus Raw 2008 should be a shoe-in for any wrestling fan’s gaming library. I mean, come on – how cool would that be?

Updates as we get them. In the meantime, enjoy the video!
