EA and GLAAD to hold panel against homophobia in online games
Electronic Arts and the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) will be hosting a panel entitled “Homophobia in Virtual Communities” to discuss methods on how to combat discrimination and hatred language in online gaming communities.
Electronic Arts and the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) will be hosting a panel entitled “Homophobia in Virtual Communities” to discuss methods on how to combat discrimination and hatred language in online gaming communities.
Included in the panel are GayGamer Founder Flynn De Marco, Maxis Senior Producer Caryl Shaw and XBL Program Manager (aka virtual bouncer) Stephen Toulouse. Toulouse’s participation in the panel is significant because of the various controversies that Microsoft has found itself dragged into in relation to their policies that are allegedly homophobic. The company has since pledged to have a second look at said policies to address the complaints.
The event will be held this Saturday, July 18th, at the EA headquarters in Redwood City.
