EA Announces 6 new franchises for Wii

Games publisher Electronic Arts (EA) have today announced no less than 6 new titles to come to Nintendo’s next-generation Wii console. According to an EA press release, these titles will be custom-designed to make full use of the Wii’s unconventional hardware whilst keeping the hallmarks of each franchise. The six franchises announced by EA for the Wii are:

Although the actual titles weren’t announced, the transfer of these franchises to a Nintendo console is promising for prospective Wii buyers. The fact that these titles are such Sony/Microsoft strongholds and that EA are bringing them to the Wii fortifies the Wii’s position in the next generation console war.

EA have also said that additional titles currently under development for the Wii will be announced in the coming months.

Reggie Fils-Aime, president and COO of Nintendo USA said “Nintendo is excited to see the broad array of signature franchises that EAÂ’s talented development teams are designing for Wii. The combination of sensational games with WiiÂ’s unique play control will thrill players and breathe new life into video games.”
