EA announces NASCAR 08, cover boy to be Tony Stewart
Electronic Arts (EA) is so busy nowadays. Just yesterday, it announced Boogie, a new and rather funky video game for the Nintendo Wii. The new title the first of what could turn into a whole new franchise, but despite this good beginning, it seems that EA still can’t really move away from game franchises. In fact, it just added NASCAR 08 to its roster of games, for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 (PS3), and PlayStation 2 (PS2).
The new title is under development with EA Tiburon and will be hitting retail stores this Summer. Would-be players of NASCAR 08 will begin as a rookie driver on the circuit, while every race that they win will award players with experience that will allow them to modify their car’s handling with over 40 tuning options. Furthermore, as players progress within the game, they will be able to gain rights to sign contracts and licenses with owners and big stars, all while unlocking top performing legendary cars in the process.
Speaking of legendary, Tony Stewart will be the cover boy of NASCAR 08. He currently drives the No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet for Joe Gibbs Racing.
EA was a little quiet with regards to the new game’s details, but it did say that players’ car setups can be shared with the online gaming community via Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network (PSN). The game also has multiplayer support and can support races of up to 16 players in one go. The game is set, obviously, in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series championship.
