EA Title to SKATE All Over Tony Hawk
IGN has just recently gotten the nod of confirmation from an EA (Electronic Arts) representative that the company is currently developing a new PS3 skateboarding game to rival Activision‘s Tony Hawk Series.
Currently under the title Skate, EA will be dropping into the skateboarding game pipe once again, 20 years after its last attempt back in 1987 with Skate or Die. And this time, they’ll be bringing the game to Sony‘s next-gen console, giving Tony Hawk’s Project 8 some friendly competition on the PS3.
Skate will also be going up against Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam for the Wii as both the title and the console will be battling it out for consumers’ patronage when the next-gen consoles, as well as the said games, are launched. EA Black Box is said to be the team developing Skate and the game will reportedly feature at least 14 skateboarding pros, including Danny Way and PJ Ladd.
According to IGN, Skate will offer gamers a real feel of skating in a fully reactive skateboarding city, while making full use of the Xbox 360 and PS3’s features, to bring advanced physics techniques in every kick-flip and aerial landing. So far, only the PS3’s version of the game has been confirmed, but EA says that we can expect more details about the game soon. Skate is slated for release next year, but other than that, EA won’t dish out any more details. Be sure to keep checking back with us as we will keep you updated on this upcoming game.
