EA to Acquire Mythic Entertainment

Mythic EntertainmentEAMythic Entertainment, developer of the popular game Dark Age of Camelot, will be acquired soon by Electronic Arts.

When the deal is finalized between the two EA and Mythic Entertainment, the studio will be named EA Mythic and it will be wholly dedicated to developing MMORPGs.

According to Mark Jacobs, CEO of Mythic Entertainment, this deal will definitely provide his team with resources and opportunities that they couldn’t have in the past.

The acquisition will be finalized come fiscal Q2 of 2007, but this will still has to meet all standard closing conditions. Jacobs will become EA Mythic’s VP, general manager while his ME co-founder Rob Denton will retain his VP, COO position.

Currently, Mythic Entertainment is working on another game for the PC which will be released Q4 2007, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.
