Early release of Bioshock in Toys ‘R’ Us halted
Apparently the lucky guy who was able to buy Bioshock (Xbox 360, PC) a week before its release date (and for only US$ 29.99 to top it off) will only be one of few, if some other lucky guys managed to buy one before 2K Games managed to hear of the leak and plugged it up.
Once 2K Games heard of the rumor they immediately sent emails to Toys ‘R’ Us branches reminding them of the street date. The early release plus the huge discount the guy was able to buy it for probably wouldn’t be taken with just a shrug for such a highly anticipated game.
However, no one seems to be sure if this is just a (very effective) hoax or simply an isolated mix-up. A statement is expected from 2K Games to comment on what happened. Updates as we get them.
Bioshock has currently topped Gamefly‘s most requested list for two weeks running in anticipation for its (official) release on August 21.
