eGames and Entertainment Expo event round up
The first ever eGames and Entertainment Expo, Australia‘s largest electronic games and digital entertainment event, came to a close November 19 in Melbourne. Overall the eGames and Entertainment Expo was a massive success with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo out in full force. In case you missed it we have some of the highlights of the successful event that promises to be bigger and better with time.
Some highlights:
- Long lines at Nintendo’s booth with Red Steel, Sonic Wildfire and WarioWare: Smooth Moves
- Sony served up Singstar Legends, Eyetoy Sports, Buzz Junior, Buzz Sports and Guitar Hero 2
- Xbox 360 games on display included Viva Pinata, Gears of War, and Sonic the Hedgehog
- Ubisoft previewed Rainbow 6: Vegas

Day 1
- Keynote speeches made by the Big 3’s high-profile execs: David McLean of Microsoft, Rose Lappin of Nintendo and Michael Ephraim of Sony
- Microsoft announced HD DVD drive would be available in early 2007 in Oz for AUD$249.95 (US$192.42). It comes bundled with a free universal media remote and Peter Jackson’s “King Kong” on HD DVD
- Nintendo showed off its Wii on stage and showcased the console’s capability
- Sony made its presentation sharing the stage with three attention-grabbing PS3 consoles
- Intel’s Kamil Gurgen demonstrated the power of the Quad Core CPUs with live cinebench and Quake 4 benchmarks
Day 2
- Demo day galore with the Wii taking the center stage
