Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for PS3 launch, delayed?

This is but a rumor. Nothing confirmed. Just pure speculation. But regardless, it still is alarming. Word is abuzz that the supposed “surprise launch title” for the PS3, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion won’t make it in time for launch anymore. Versions of the rumor vary, with some saying that it’ll be pushed back for as much as a couple of months, or as minor as a couple of weeks.

Supposedly, EBGameStop has now enlisted the game under the December 4 release titles, while Wal-Mart posted it all the way back for a January 27, 2007 release. Circuit City seems to be the only one still having it listed within November, with the game still allegedly set to go by November 19.

There’s still no word from Bethesda on the matter, so as mentioned earlier, everything remains to be speculative at this point. But we sincerely do hope that this rumor remains to be just a rumor, and not fact. Of course, it would be great to have this game launched alongside the PS3. But if ever the circumstances really can’t permit for this scenario to be possible, at least make it so that we won’t have to wait for a really long time.
