Electronic Arts: Godfather II delayed, even more layoffs planned

Guns, pasta, and cats. That’s the life of the Godfather. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to take over the title of Don just yet. EA’s mobster game The Godfather II (PS3, 360) has been delayed for a few months, and will be released sometime between April and June.
The official reason given was to hype up the game a bit more. EA CEO John Riccitiello says the game is a “solid title” but that it “would get its best shot at success in [fiscal] Q4.” It’s smart for EA to be careful about the timing of its releases nowadays, with the economy being as it is. Also, it seems the studio is having some internal financial troubles.
According to the figures they posted for their last quarter, they lost US$ 641 million due to a weak holiday run. It probably isn’t as bad as it sounds, but it’s no comfort that they increased the number of their projected employee layoffs from 10% to 11%. Looks like the high body count won’t just be in the Godfather game.
