Airstrike PSP Port

Damn you, Red Baron, DAMN YOU!!!!! - Image 1In between Custom Firmware Extenders and PowerMangas, Cpasjuste took the time to make this… and make me hate the Red Baron. To quote him from the forums, “I have ported the game Airstrike to the psp. It’s a funny fight plane game but it’s still in early developpement stage.”

And what a funny flight game – actually a thrust-based multi-directional shooter (MDS) – it is, quirky but functional. You are the Blue Baron, represented by the blue plane (this ain’t Missile Defender WWI edition: that cannon at the bottom ain’t you). Your mortal enemy, the Red Baron (no points for guessing which plane… unless you’re color-blind) wants nothing more than to add a few extra windows to your plane, oh, about .50-caliber sized windows.

Left and Right on the D-pad pitches your plane clockwise or counterclockwise (Cpasjuste says up and down, but as this is an MDS, we’re swapping the terminology to make things clearer). Trigger R to thrust forwards (you’ll also need thrust input to quickly pitch your plane). Triangle fires guns and Circle bombs (limited ammo).

“Early development stage”? Should be interesting to see a multiplayer version of this in the future.

No, that darned cannon at the bottom cannot be blown up (I think). I tried.
