City of Heroes Issue 8: “To Protect and Serve”

City of Heroes

Avid players of the MMORPG City of Heroes are now probably basking in pure bliss as the team behind the game has taken the wraps off its latest free expansion – Issue 8: “To Protect and Serve”. We have pretty much given you an idea on what to expect from it thanks to the various interviews granted by Matthew Miller aka Positron. But if Issue 7: “Destiny Manifest” gave the villains a chance to spread cruelty, now it’s about time that the Heroes take back what was rightfully theirs in the first place. The free expansion would be home to a variety of new features and they are the following:

Heroes only

  • Police Band- this new feature is pretty much the same in function with the Newspaper Missions in City of Villains. New Police contacts scattered in a number of Hero zones will give Heroes Police Band access which leads to a wide variety of new missions and goodies.
  • Safeguard Missions- As bigtime villains are spreading havoc in Paragon City, emergency broadcast from the Police Band scanners will alert Heroes leading to amped Mayhem Missions. As one of Paragon City’s crimebusters, it is your task to prevent crime and stop chaos.
  • Faultline Reborn- Faultline becomes a city zone and construction is on-going, thanks to Paragon City’s passing of Measure X.

Heroes and Villains

  • Pocket D Arenas- Heroes and villains can now slug it out using Arena kiosks which is set within the gray ground of the Pocket D nightclub.
  • Veteran Rewards Program- Retroactively rewards City of Heroes and City of Villains players for their past active playing time. For every three months of active play, players will be able to unlock special costumes, powers, badges, among many others.
