Zubo by EA for the DS - Image 1 Here’s yet another music-based rhythm game to be released exclusively on the Nintendo DS. Electronic Arts has revealed the development of Zubo, a game that will target the seven to 11 year olds market.

Says Harvey Elliot, head of the EA Bright Light Studio in Guildford, UK:

Zubo represents the culmination of a dedicated incubation project which specifically sought to develop a new videogame property for boys and girls under 12. The team here has designed a rich, immersive and, above all, enjoyable experience – one that will live in the schoolyard, at home or on the move.

In Zubo, players will be immersed in the world of Zubalon, where they will meet and help the colorful inhabitants, the Zubos, in defeating an evil force (Zombos) that is determined to dominate the world. Making friends with the Zubos will be a vital act in the game, as it is through this that the players may help Zubos gain skills and strength, as well as to feed and nurture them to aid them in their battles against the Zombos.

Central to the gameplay is the music, as it is that which is “intrinsic to Zubalon from its tuneful planet life thorough to its currency of musical notes.” The player will then make use of the music to drive the battles forward, and here, you will have to synchronize your stylus action and tap in time with the musical beats to succeed.

Zubo also houses mini-games as well as interactions. Fun starts on your DS this autumn. Keep it posted here for more updates.
