Sony Online Entertainment's EverQuest II MMORPG - Image 1Whether you love them or hate them, gnomes have played an important part in the lore of Sony Online Entertainment’s EverQuest II. In case you want to know more about these inventors, here’s an overview of their city of Ak’Anon.

For those who aren’t familiar with the Ak’Anon, it is located beneath the Steamfront Mountains on the continent of Faydwer. The entrance can be found on one of the mountains and is guarded by both gnomes and clockwork sentinels. Those lucky enough to be granted passage will find that the city proper is filled with all sorts of machines.

The city is ruled by the immortal King Ak’Anon. While his entire body is made of clockwork, it is said that every bolt, nut, and turning cog of his form has been infused with the original entity of though, emotion, and intelligence. Ak’anon is said to be the reason that the city has enjoyed prosperity and peace even during the times when other races suffered.

Players who would venture into the realm of the Gnomes will find that the city has various establishments that should provide them with all their adventuring needs. Players of a more religious bent will also find different guilds around the city which worship some of the more popular deities in Norrath.
