GDC 2008: Gamebryo Engine acquires new facial animation tech

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Civilization 4, Dark Age of Camelot, and Fallout 3. What do all of these video games have in common? They all run on the Gamebryo Engine, which is coming to the 2008 Game Developers Conference.

The engine’s got new game with new facial animation tech from Image Metrics. At the GDCEmergent Game Technologies will be showcasing a new 30-second demonstration of the engine’s strength in producing rich facial expression and emotion in a character.

Gamebryo has been used to power games for the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and the Wii. Emergent will be releasing new demos in the future. Hopefully we’ll see the power of the tech first hand in new games running on the engine soon.
