Iwata: A small increase (of Wiis) is expected at the retail outlets
Okay, not really breaking news since when Nintendo President Satoru Iwata gave out these comments in the Official Nintendo Homepage, it was around April. Still, generally good news for Nintendo fans out there:
As for Wii, we are not disclosing the monthly production number today. Of course, now that Wii is facing product shortages in the markets, we are working on increasing production, and the effect is starting to show up little by little in this month already. As this month’s production will be sold in the worldwide markets by the end of the next month, a small increase is expected at the retail outlets from next month.
When Iwata said “next month” at the time of this interview – April – he meant this month – May. So rejoice folks, there should be an influx of Nintendo Wiis for you to purchase, if you still don’t have one that is, and you’re in desperate need.
In related news, here’s Iwata’s reaction to Kutaragi’s departure from front line operations if Sony, and if he’s considering if Nintendo will “headhunt” him. Iwata comments: “I don’t think we will do that.”
For the complete interview, full of comments about the importance of expanding the gaming market in America, the problems with Second Life, and getting more people to buy Brain Age, feel free to head to it by clicking on our Read link below.
