New hope seen for Metroid Dread

Samus Aran - Image 1If you own a Nintendo DS but don’t have a Nintendo Wii, you’re probably green with envy over how good the newly-released Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is. Retro Studios, however, has apparently embedded a message in the game for you.

The eagle-eyed folks over at Shacknews say that in the latter part of the game, a message was spotted saying “experiment status report update. Metroid project ‘Dread’ is nearing the final stages of completion.”

How’s that for a new ray of light for the Dread Project which was, at a time, reported canceled? Nintendo hasn’t commented on the matter yet, but we’ll give you an update if it ever does.

Metroid Dread, for those not in the know, is a Nintendo DS iteration of the franchise planned with a 2D look in mind just like its SNES, Game Boy, and GBA predecessors. It will feature series heroine Samus Aran in another intergalactic adventure in which details have been tightly kept secret.
