Parents in their sixties hooked on Wii
Getting a hard time bonding with your parents? An anecdote posted in Kotaku tells the story of poster Flynn de Marco who brought his Nintendo Wii to his parents’ house for Thanksgiving, and ended up with him and his parents getting a blast out of playing Wii Sports.
The post also highlights his parents’ growing attachment to the Wii. His mother makes an excuse to buy a Nintendo Wii for his brother (yeah, right). His parents then become Wii addicts when they got their own console.
Eventually the said parents became the coolest couple on the block, with their friends coming over not to have a barbecue party, but rip-roaring Wii parties. This pretty much says it all, since they are already in their sixties.
While the anecdote is a nice read, this also drives home the point that compared to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii games are pretty much pick-and-play.
It’s nice to know that despite all the bashing the games industry are suffering thanks to the recent censorship debates and events, there are still families that enjoy spending time having fun and using a medium that some deem as the reason why children become violent.
