Nintendo Wii - Image 1WiiWare is finally hitting the United States in May 12. But hold your horses before you fully rejoice because Nintendo of America has something more in store for you. Tagging along with WiiWare would be the Nintendo Channel – yes, the rumor is true.

The Nintendo Channel is an added button in that Wii menu of yours. Nintendo of America Executive Vice President Cammie Dunaway shares in a meeting with Wired that this channel will be home to downloadable DS titles and info on homegrown (not homebrew) games from Nintendo.

Think of the Nintendo Channel as an official spokesperson from Nintendo on your Wii menu. Since Nintendo won’t be releasing WiiWare demos, Nintendo Channel may give gamers a taste, or at least some info on the WiiWare games.

How, you may ask? Dunaway elaborates that gamers will be allowed to review the Wiiware games when they’ve played them for an hour. The gamers’ reviews will be posted in the Nintendo Channel and will substitute for the demos, says Dunaway.

What else is there in the Nintendo Channel? There’s a list of upcoming Wii and DS titles which you can sort by release dates, publishers, titles, etc. You can also download DS demos via the Wii.

When the Nintendo Channel becomes available, you can log on to your Wii shopping channel. You can download it for free. More updates as QJ.NET gets them.
