Rumor: Shenmue 1 and 2 heading for the Wii

Rumor: Shenmue 1 and 2 heading for the Wii - Image 1Surfer Girl may have been on to something during her November post from last year. A Swedish gaming magazine hints that Nintendo is working on a Wii version of Sega‘s first two Shenmue games, originally released to the ill-fated Dreamcast system. Details are available in the full article.

Rumor: Shenmue 1 and 2 heading for the Wii - Image 1According to a rumor that’s recently cropped up, the first two installments of Sega‘s Shenmue game series might be arriving on the Nintendo Wii. This bit of speculation was initially posted on Sweden‘s Game Reactor magazine, under the publication’s rumor section. Here’s a translation of the original snippet:

Shenmue is back! Sega has rereleased classics like Nights, Bass Fishing and House of the Dead lately. Now itÂ’s said that Shenmue is next. But donÂ’t think that itÂ’s about a new game, instead, theyÂ’re bringing back the two original Shenmue games with extra Wiimote-minigames which will be released for the Wii.

Well, it’s not exactly Shenmue 3, but at least it’ll give the newer gamers out there a chance to witness the series’ storyline from day one. Once again, we remind the readers that this just a rumor, so you’ll want to keep a stiff upper lip until more information is released. Here’s to hoping this latest bit of speculation will be getting some sort of confirmation before the decade’s over.
