World of Warcraft: transferring UI settings over accounts
Let’s say you’re one of those online gamers who love alter-egos so much, you got 20 of them on World of Warcraft. Miraculously, you attend to each and every avatar through some magical process (or time management fixer-uppers), but always keep your user interface as neat and as tidy as your first character.
As you change preferences and get used to some of the new UI arrangements, you finally realize that you have to now sort through 20 accounts to change UI settings in each one! Instead of going through the whole trouble, Blizzard rep and agitated Gremlin, Aeus, was kind enough to create a step-by-step way to transfer one setting to all your seven (possible) accounts.
Assuming your original account is called ACCOUNT1 on REALM1 and you want to the character CHAR1’s UI settings copied over to ACCOUNT2, CHAR2 on REALM2, you should:
Make a copy of the entire World of WarcraftWTFAccountACCOUNT1 folder (shift-left-click and drag the ACCOUNT1 folder to make an instant copy). Your World of WarcraftWTFAccount folder should now look like this:
World of WarcraftWTFAccountACCOUNT1
World of WarcraftWTFAccountcopy of ACCOUNT1
Then rename “copy of ACCOUNT1” to ACCOUNT2. Go into World of WarcraftWTFAccountACCOUNT2 and rename the folder REALM1 to REALM2. Now, go into World of WarcraftWTFAccountACCOUNT2REALM2 and rename the CHAR1 folder to CHAR2.
Easy as that, folks! Okay one down, now there’s 18 characters left to go…
