Enterbrain mag says PS3 to outsell Xbox 360 and Wii

next-gen consolesEnterbrain, one of the top video games magazines in Japan, predicts global victory for the PS3 in the upcoming next-gen console war. However, the magazine also said it’s not going to be an instant success.

Enterbrain President Hirokazu Hamamura believes the PS3 will start at the bottom. “The PS3 will have a tough time globally at the initial stage. Its launch titles in Japan and exclusive software titles overseas are quite limited,” he says. But the year 2010 will be PS3’s year, if the magazine’s forecast is accurate, thanks to its realistic graphics, which will give it a long-term competitive edge.

“It will stay competitive even when a game console battle breaks out among a newer generation of machines in 2010. Sales should grow every time Sony cuts prices,” according to the publisher.

The magazine also predicts 4.13 million PS3 consoles will be snapped by consumers worldwide by March 2007 against 5.47 million units of Wii. But by the end of 2009, the global sales scorecard will be:

  • PS3: 34 million units
  • Xbox 360: 28 million units
  • Wii: 25 million units
