Episodic Halo series confirmed; Peter Jackson gets in on the deal
Breakfast at the GDC ain’t your usual sunny-side up, bagels and coffee luxury under the early morning sunshine. For the Microsoft execs present at the convention, it was an opportunity to talk to the press, particularly regarding their current Xbox 360 strategy.
Shane Kim and Chris Satchell proved themselves to be early-morning persons by gamely engaging in conversation that covered a wide variety of topics, including some of the hardware problems encountered by some customers. Says Kim, “It’s unfortunate that people have had problems with their Xbox 360… we’ve got room for improvement on both sides of the equation – it’s a top priority for us. “
That’s good to know. But what definitely stirred up the morning lull was the confirmation that Microsoft and Bungie Studios are indeed brainstorming on two different gaming series for their next-gen with no less than the Hobbits‘ big man, Peter Jackson. “We’re in the design phase now,” offers Kim. “The first series will be set in the Halo universe.” But that’s not all the role Jackson’s got for the franchise. He is also working as the executive producer on the feature film Halo, which is currently on hiatus.
The series will be episodic, and will apparently be available in downloadable form. Keep it posted here for more updates on this.
