ESRB looking for game raters through GamerDad?
Game Politics reported some interesting developments over on the GamerDad website, and it’s one that that has to do with the site, the ESRB, and people looking to take their gaming love to a different level.
GamerDad’s apparently got an ESRB advertisement looking for gamers who want to work as raters for the ratings board. According to a post on the GamerDad website, it’s a way to bring the responsible gaming mindset (and the Gaming Parent mentality) more into video games. Said Andrew Bub, GamerDad editor,
The result is on your left. Click that box and, if you live in the New York area, YOU… a GamerDad reader and GamerParent yourself could become one of the ESRB raters. I’m really excited about this, we’re getting the opportunity to “stack the deck” and guarantee that gamers and GamerParents will be better represented by the rating you find on the box.
As much as some people might think it weird, it’s still a great idea. The ESRB has been doing what it can to connect with gamers more, and this seems like a logical step. It’s also one that puts game ratings in the hands of actual gamers, and while we can’t really discern how this will turn out, it’s heartening to know that there’s at least a couple of people out there who seem genuinely concerned with watching over the welfare of children.
