The PEGI system has found a new ally in Toine Manders, a member of the European Parliament‘s Committee. According to videogaming247, the politician has recommended that Europe should universally adopt PEGI’s rating system.
The recommendation was made to the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs. Manders said that the PEGI system “provides an elegant solution to the questions raised by the evolving global games industry.”
“It is a ringing endorsement of the rating system that we in the UK were instrumental in helping to set up several years ago,” Michael Rawlinson of ELSPA. ELSPA has repeatedly backed PEGI in the latter’s confrontations with the BBFC over which rating system was better.
