CCP, the world’s largest independent game developer, announced that EVE Online: Revelations is now running on the massive Tranquility super-computer cluster.

The uber-achieving EVE Online supercomputer cluster can handle over 150 million database transactions per day on a 64-bit hardware architecture from IBM. Making this astounding capability possible is the database servers unconventional Solid State Disks (SSD).

Unlike traditional hard drives, SSD is known as the worlds fastest storage devices clocking at over 400,000 random I/Os per second. Easily breaking the old world record of over 30,000 concurrent users on a single shard. Te new Tranquility super-computer clusterscan support at least 50,000 simultaneous users.
