Eve Online to get shinier with upcoming winter update

Eve Online to get a visual upgrade soon - Image 1Here’s a new EVE Online update from the folks at CCP Games. According to them, a new expansion is slated for distribution this coming winter, and it’s got them all very excited. So excited, in fact, that they’re also offering some new surprises for players prior to the release of the expansion.

The emphasis of this expansion is “shiny”. To show off the shininess of the new expansion, CCP Games will be tweaking quite a few visual aspects of the game, from the spaceships to the station interiors and exteriors. As they mention in their news article, “It is, in fact, a brand new graphic engine, tuned and tweaked with everything from asynchronous resource loading to intelligent fallback mechanisms to give the best performance possible, and we’re very proud of it.”

To celebrate this, the company is adding a host of new ships to the fray. From Black Ops ships to lowly Jump Freighters, there will certainly be more shiny property going around when the new graphics engine comes online. CCP Games is also adding new PVE content and gameplay enhancements, such as improved drone management and new booster production regions.

There’s no word on when exactly this new update will come out, but since they did mention a winter release date, it should be easy to assume a release date this coming November (right in time for the EVE Online Fanfest) or early next year.
