EverQuest: Account Security reminders

EverquestWith the recent issues that World of Warcraft has been experiencing with the keylogger scams and whatnots, other MMORPGs are making sure that they take all the necessary steps to prevent something like this from happening to their game.

So, in light of these recent events, SOE has also posted a few reminders regarding account security for all the EverQuestusers. They also gave tips on keeping your accounts secure, like changing your password periodically and constantly updating your registration information.

But while doing those things will help you keep your accounts secure, they also emphasize the importance of keeping in mind the following things:

  • NEVER give out your password to anyone. SOE will NEVER ask for your password so if ever you encounter someone who claims to be from SOE, do not budge.
  • Use a unique Station name – use alphanumeric passwords and special characters
  • Never use the same word for your Station name and password
  • Keep your registration information, including current email address, up to date in so that we can contact you regarding your account and for retrieving lost passwords.
