Everquest to have “Dawn of the Clockworks” contest

Sony Online Entertainment’s Everquest team is hosting a new event for Everquest players, called the “Dawn of the Clockworks” contest. In it, SOE hopes their MMORPG’s players will create and introduce interesting new clockwork contraptions that will astound people everywhere!

The contest will run from November 12, 2007, (12:01 am, US Pacific Time) to Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at (11:59 pm, US Pacific Time. For the contest information and prizes, head to the full article.

Here’s what you have to do, according to the folks at SOE:

Using building blocks, tinker sets, electronic supplies, and/or other gadgets, EverQuest community engineers have this opportunity to create real-life clockworks to assist Meldrath or Ak’Anon. As you create the clockwork, take pictures or video showing the creation process and the final product. The clockwork does not have to actually work but if you submit a video, you should probably explain why it doesn’t move!

One first-place winner will receive the following prizes:

• One EverQuest Secrets of Faydwer Retail Box (Retail Value: $39.99)
• Four sets of the official Secrets of Faydwer dice. (Retail Value: $7.96)
• One EverQuest Secrets of Faydwer Poster ($5.99)
• One 90 Day SOE Game Card (Retail Value: $44.99)
• In-Game Title for their selected character
• Specialized Forum Rank (requires forum membership)

In this time, the Everquest team hopes people will come up with amazing bits of clockwork that look really cool on camera.
