Exclusive Revolver Footage To Be Released As A Direct WIFI PSP Download
Redbus distribution is going to be one of the first distributors in Europe to push exclusive film footage as a direct WIFI PSP download, to market the release of Revolver, director Guy Richie’s latest feature film.
Redbus has partnered with the US 29HDNetwork, http://www.29hdnetwork.com, to release the footage across both Europe and America.
Joseph Shak, co-founder of 29HD Network, commented, “29HD Network is excited to be partnering with Redbus and being the first in Europe to provide a direct WIFI PSP video download as a marketing tool. It is a mark of how forward-thinking the distributor is to chose this method, above others, for releasing the video”.
The footage has been closely guarded and kept under-wraps for the past few months. Carla Smith, head of marketing at Redbus, explains the decision to release it in this format, “Redbus is keen to constantly update and rethink ways in which it delivers content. We recognise that the 29Guide is a great place to reach the Revolver target audience by delivering exclusive video to a place where it will be noticed”.
The 29Guide is the largest provider of direct to PSP video downloads via a wireless connection. With WIFI and PSP web browser, a PSP owner can directly browse 29Guide’s library of specially encoded video for direct download to their PSP and playback – www.29hdnetwork.com/pspdirect.
Sony has sold upwards of six million PSP units worldwide with an expected total unit sales of 12 million by the end of 2005, a rate, which has already far outpaced the introduction of the iPod. A recent report from Sony also indicated that an anticipated $250 million of UMD movies will be sold by year-end, making the PSP the fastest growing multi-media platform ever, beating the first year numbers during the launch of both the iPod and the DVD player combined.
