Sorry to the Australians who were waiting on this game: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) was refused classification by the Australian government, meaning the game cannot be sold in stores (not legally, anyway) – unsurprising, but disappointing nonetheless.

No specific reasons were given as to why the game was refused classification. Since the game merits an “M” (for mature) in the United States and the Australian Classification system still only goes as high as MA15+, I can take a few guesses. Most of those guesses involve dismembered body parts and a whole lot of blood.

On the upside, this decision might not stand since there is currently a push to implement an R18+ rating for videogames (as outlined in a previous article). So far there’s been little to no movement on this front but we can always stay hopeful, I suppose.

Outside of Australia, the game will be available in most other places by February of next year.
