Fable 2: It’s all about love
One of the appeals Xbox’s Fable had was the complex character interaction. Depending on what you do or choices you make, the NPCs treat you differently. The same element will still be in Fable 2, but with more emphasis on love. The developers believe that love is important to hook players, like movies do to viewers.
In the video below, the staff of Lionhead Studios talk about love and other emotions they want the player to feel while going through Fable 2. A very typical question yet difficult to answer for many: what is love? Same when you ask any group of people, their answers vary. What’s most important is how people love and want to be loved, and that’s what they’re to trying include in the game.
The team claims that the sequel will have more sophisticated AI thanks to more power from Xbox 360. “All the ambitions we had for Fable 1 which we couldn’t quite put in, we are bringing back in Fable 2,” says one of the guys from the studio. Just like in the first game, they want the players to know that all their actions will do a huge impact on the world and how people will love and respect them.
Apparently, they’re aiming for a dating simulator type when it comes to the hero trying to get someone fall in love with him. Actions available for Fable will be improved upon and some will be added for a more realistic interaction.
Another in focus is the dog sidekick, which was shown in GDC 2007. Aside from love, they’re trying to make the dog as realistic as possible so the player can understand its feelings. Just like real dogs, you can’t control your furry friend in Fable. Only way you can influence how your sidekick acts is by playing the game.
