Last year saw the release of what gamers came to know as one of the biggest upsets in gaming history. After months of heightened anticipation, the time finally came when Peter Molyneux’s fantasy RPG Fable hit stores, supporting features that no console game ever had. Upon the day of release, gamers were greeted with an incredibly short and easy RPG experience, upsetting hardcore RPG gamers and even more casual fans. Xbox owners became even more disgruntled at the news of another Fable, this one to be available exclusively for the PC and featuring all the stuff left out of the Xbox game. Lionhead Studios, owned by Peter Molyneux, gave gamers a reason to celebrate today, announcing that Fable: the Lost Chapters will indeed be coming to the Microsoft Xbox.
Microsoft, who published the original Xbox version of Fable, has reportedly picked up on gamer’s obvious frustration with the series, and has promised that all the features that were supposed to be included in Fable are going to be included in the Lost Chapters. With this said, Microsoft will also release the Lost Chapters as a Platinum Hit title, which automatically gives the game an MSRP of the lowly $19.99.
This news comes months after Microsoft announced their intentions to bring a next-generation version of Fable to their upcoming console, the Microsoft 360. Speculation may indicate that the Lost Chapters is the sequel, only brought to the Xbox instead of the Xbox 360 as originally planned. As far as we know, however: Microsoft and Lionshead studios have not yet announced this as the so-called ‘next-gen’ sequel to Fable.
Fable: the Lost Chapters will be available in Q4 of this year worldwide, with the team that brought you Fable back on for another round. We do not know of any features or story altercations that will separate the PC and Xbox version yet, but we will continue to provide details as they come.
