For the youth of Tatsymiya Island, paradise was only a brief illusion. They believed their lives were ordinary until the arrival of Festum, an alien life form bent on assimilating the human race.

Overnight their peaceful idyllic island is transformed into a military fortress with the sole purpose of counter-attacking vicious aliens.

Their pressures increase when they discover that they are the only ones who can pilot the Fafner—a series humanoid-type robots that are the only remaining weapon for use in their battle against the Festums.
